Portugal records 3rd biggest increase in EU employment rate

Portugal recorded the third biggest increase in the employment rate in the European Union. This data places the country among the Member States with the best performance in job creation in the period analyzed.

Malta led the increases with 4.4%, followed by Spain with 2.3% and Portugal with 2.2%. These three countries were the ones that recorded the biggest increases in the employment rate among the EU Member States.

In the opposite direction, Romania, Finland and Bulgaria were the countries that showed the most significant decreases in the employment rate.

ULS denies there is only one haematologist for the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo

The Southern Zone Medical Union reported that only one female haematologist provides services in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo, working on a service provision basis without a contract, subject to work overload. ULS Algarve responded that there are four haematologists on a service provision basis, two of whom are applying for vacancies opened in July, with their binding to the service expected shortly. The union announced it will report the situation to the Medical Association and request a meeting with ULS Algarve.

Louis Vuitton owners' fund set to acquire Hyrox fitness competition

The North American private equity fund L Catterton, backed by the LVMH group and Bernard Arnault's holding company, is about to acquire the Hyrox fitness competition for approximately 600 million euros. The Swiss-German company, founded in Hamburg in 2017 and currently owned by Chinese group Dalian Wanda through Infront Sports & Media AG, has recorded rapid growth since the Covid-19 pandemic. The fund is also considering involving international partners, including co-investors from Asia, given the growing popularity of the competition on that continent and in Portugal.
