Portugal faces one of the biggest ever fuel price increases. Diesel rose by 12.5 cents per liter and gasoline increased by 9.6 cents, directly affecting Portuguese consumers who are already facing significant economic pressures.
The Portuguese Government had announced on Friday a three cent discount on the Special Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP) as a measure to soften the impact of these increases on citizens' pockets.
However, when the respective order was published with the details of the measure, it was found that the discount actually applied was lower than the three cents initially promised by the executive.
