The farmers consider that the extraordinary support for agricultural diesel is insufficient. This position arises at a time when the return of this subsidy to producers in the sector is being discussed.
If the support returns under the same conditions that were in force until June, producers will only be able to save 10 cents per litre of agricultural diesel. This value is considered too reduced by the farmers.
In comparison, the Spanish case presents a quite different scenario. In the neighbouring country, support for agricultural diesel is three times higher than what is planned in Portugal, which places Portuguese farmers in a position of competitive disadvantage.
