ANTROP calls for continuation of extraordinary support for passenger transport

Correio da Manhã7 September 2026 at 13:07

The National Association of Passenger Transport (ANTROP) requested the government to continue the extraordinary support for the passenger transport sector. The association justifies this request with the significant impact that the increase in fuel prices is having on the sector.

According to ANTROP's calculations, the estimated impact for the period between July and September is 15 million euros. This value reflects the increase in operational costs for passenger transport companies.

The identified cause for this cost increase is related to the war in Iran, which has been causing instability in fuel markets and, consequently, the increase in prices in Portugal.

ANTROP warns that without the maintenance of these extraordinary support measures, passenger transport companies may face financial difficulties that compromise the quality of service provided to citizens.
