Juan José Imbroda, president of Melilla, also present at the meeting, supported Vivas's statements with equal force. Imbroda did not mention Sánchez directly, but strongly criticized the fact that he had seen "a gentleman taking a bath in the Canary Islands" during the crisis, describing this situation as "a big slap" for the Spanish.
The president of Melilla received strong applause from the audience. During his speech, Imbroda accused the Spanish Executive of carrying out "a small campaign against President Vivas" and pointed out that in Moncloa there must have been "bad faith or something else".
