Teachers accuse Region of worsening shortage
The Madeira Teachers' Union (SPM) considers that this year's teacher placement process reveals a "serious shortage" of teachers and educators in the Region. Francisco Oliveira, SPM coordinator, stated, at a press conference at the union headquarters, that only 216 teachers were placed, compared to more than 400 last year. He recalled that the regional secretary for Education had indicated, on August 7, the need to hire between 450 and 500 teachers.
