Keiko Fujimori declared a state of emergency in Peruvian prisons. The measure was taken with the objective of confronting criminal organizations that operate from within the prison system. The prisons selected for this measure house leaders and members of these organizations who coordinate criminal activities even from within the penal institutions. The action seeks to restrict communication and movement of these inmates to interrupt the command of illegal operations that are directed from inside the prisons to the outside.

Tomar approves two-euro tourist tax and estimates raising 300 thousand euros per year

The Municipal Chamber of Tomar unanimously approved the final version of the tourist tax regulation of two euros per overnight stay, estimating to raise around 300 thousand euros per year. The value results from approximately 150 thousand annual overnight stays (after exemptions), and the revenue will be destined for the maintenance of public space, tourist promotion and cultural support.
