Association warns that ending fuel support puts public transport continuity at risk

Notícias de Coimbra7 September 2026 at 11:35

ANTROP - National Association of Passenger Transport warned that maintaining current fuel prices, without government support, puts the continuity of public transport at risk. The association expressed concern about the impact that ending fuel subsidies may have on the sector.

The alert comes in a context of discussion about fuel pricing policy and its effects on population mobility. ANTROP argues that public transport is an essential service that needs sustainable conditions to function.

The association represents the interests of passenger transport and has been warning about the financial challenges the sector faces. The warning about the continuity of public service comes at a time when operational costs continue to rise.
