The independent councilors Luís Filipe Santos and Jorge Afonso Freitas, from the Funchal City Council, submitted a request with 55 questions during the last meeting of the council. The document is addressed to president Jorge Carvalho and addresses the preventive measures applicable to an area in Amparo, in São Martinho.

The request comes following Regional Regulatory Decree No. 16/2026/M, of August 28. The councilors are now awaiting responses from Jorge Carvalho at a meeting scheduled for Thursday.

The questions presented focus on the coordination of the preventive measures with territorial planning instruments, namely PROTRAM 2022-2032, the Funchal Municipal Master Plan, and the Urban Plan for Amparo.

The two independent councilors intend to clarify how these measures fit within the context of the territorial planning plans in force in the municipality.
