The Historical Village of Sortelha is preparing to return to the Middle Ages between September 18 and 20, with the holding of the XIV edition of the "Muralhas com História" event. The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Sabugal and aims to transport visitors to the medieval period through various activities and historical recreations.
This year, the event invites participants to learn about the reign of King Ferdinand I, known as "The Handsome," king of Portugal who ruled between 1367 and 1383. The theme chosen for the 2024 edition is "The Card that Changed History," a reference to the landmark events of that period.
Sortelha is one of the historical villages of the Guarda district, recognized for its medieval architectural heritage, including its walls that serve as the setting for the event. The initiative allows visitors to experience the life and customs of the Portuguese medieval period in an immersive way.
With this XIV edition, "Muralhas com História" consolidates itself as one of the main historical recreation events in the region, contributing to the enhancement of Sortelha's cultural heritage and to the tourist dynamization of the Sabugal territory.
