Eborense Pedro Brito achieves brilliant 6th place at the Spain FootGolf Open

The Eborense athlete Pedro Brito, who represents Grupo União Sport de Montemor-o-Novo, achieved a remarkable 6th place at the Spain FootGolf Open, held between September 3rd and 6th at the Fairplay Golf Club in Cádiz. The competition brought together approximately 200 players from various countries, in one of the most important international tournaments of the sport, and the Alentejo athlete managed to stay among the best, even competing for the top positions until the last hole.

The result gains even greater significance given the difficulties that FootGolf is currently facing in Portugal. Without available fields to train nearby and with the sport practically without competitive activity in the country for about three months, Pedro Brito arrived in Spain without the usual training and competition rhythm of elite athletes.

Pedro Brito highlighted the adverse circumstances in which he achieved this result, stating that, since there has been no FootGolf in Portugal for about three months and without fields to train nearby, it was an excellent position to have competed until the last hole for first place. The Portuguese player responded with consistency, concentration and ability to overcome challenges, managing to finish among the top six in an internationally sized tournament.

The result constitutes a milestone in the career of the Eborense athlete and a source of pride for Grupo União Sport de Montemor-o-Novo and for Alentejo sports. Despite falling just short of the podium, Pedro Brito made it clear that the dream of winning the Spain FootGolf Open remains very much alive and that he will not give up on achieving it.

From "demons" to Big Brother: Abel Ferreira breaks the dishes in another press conference at Palmeiras

Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira was again present at Palmeiras' press conference, where he criticized the refereeing in the match against Botafogo and ironically commented on the presence of three microphones in the technical area, comparing the situation to a "Big Brother" environment and referring to "demons" in what appears to be a reference to previous problems with the club's internal communication. The conference followed the Portuguese coach's usual pattern, who is known for his enigmatically critical speeches and for the way he uses the media to send messages about issues that bother him in Brazilian football.

Gil Vicente-Ac. Viseu: the data doesn't score

Gil Vicente defeated Académico de Viseu with an early goal by João Guilherme at the 4th minute, which completely altered the planned strategy for the match in Barcelos. Coach Luís Pinto tried to justify the team's performance through statistics, but the article criticizes this approach, highlighting that numbers do not necessarily reflect actual performance on the pitch. The central problem with Pinto's argument is that statistical data cannot capture the dynamics and specific circumstances that determined the match result.

Market still hasn't closed in Brazil; Neymar's Santos want Benfica winger

Portuguese winger Bruma, who was left out of Marco Silva's squad for the Europa League, is attracting interest from several clubs. Aris Thessaloniki emerges as one of the interested parties, but Neymar's Santos and Botafogo have also shown interest in the 31-year-old player. Benfica intend to sell Bruma, signed from Braga for 6.5 million euros in the winter transfer window of 2024/25. So far, there is no official offer sent to the Luz, nor an advanced negotiation, but the winger's name is being considered as an option by Brazilian clubs in the final stretch of the transfer window in Brazil.
