The first registration phase for the Academia do Saber de Quarteira began on September 7 and runs until the 18th, announced the Quarteira Parish Council. This academy is part of the Quarteira Longevity with Quality program, which also includes Social Dances, Senior Theatre and Gymnastics Seniors in Movement, all aimed at people over 50 years old. The program, which aims to promote active and healthy longevity, celebrates a decade of activity in 2026 and has already involved over 800 senior students.

For the 2026/2027 school year, the Academia do Saber offers 54 theoretical and practical modules, taught by 49 teachers on a voluntary basis. The educational offering covers areas such as arts, health, physical activity, languages, personal development, technology and history. Registrations can be made in person at the Parish Council or through the parish website, with a second phase scheduled to begin on October 12.

The various activities in the program have external partnerships: Senior Theatre is run by Coletivo JAT – Janela Aberta Teatro, Social Dances by Associação Arabesque Family and Gymnastics Seniors in Movement by Associação Movimento é Vida. The program is promoted by the Quarteira Parish Council, with support from the Loulé Municipal Council.
