The renowned bullfighting surgeon at the Castellón bullring, Gustavo Traver, died this Monday at the age of 77, after his health seriously worsened in recent weeks. The news of his death represents a great loss for the Spanish bullfighting world.
Traver began his career as a surgeon at the Vinaròs bullring and quickly moved to the one in Castellón, where he replaced Dr. Eduardo Batalla. Over 37 years, he remained as chief surgeon of this bullring, becoming a reference in bullfighting emergency care.
During his long tenure as chief surgeon in Castellón, Gustavo Traver treated numerous serious cases of renowned bullfighters, including Emilio Muñoz, César Rincón, Jesulín de Ubrique, El Fundi, and Antonio Ferrera, among many others. His experience and dedication were fundamental in saving lives and treating serious injuries in the bullrings.
