The Yemeni army intensified today the aerial operations against positions of Houthi rebels on several fronts of the country. The attacks were carried out especially in the provinces of Al Baida, Marib and Al Dalea, where important rebel strongholds are concentrated.
The operations are part of a broader escalation of the conflict between government forces and the Houthi insurgent movement. The Yemeni government is mobilizing reinforcements to combat the rebels on multiple fronts.
The conflict in Yemen has opposed for years the internationally recognized government to the Houthis, an Iranian-backed rebel group. The intensification of the aerial attacks represents a new phase of the armed confrontation in the country.
