A 37-year-old doctor was found dead inside the apartment where she lived in Maringá, in Northern Paraná, on Saturday night. The case is being investigated initially as femicide. The victim was identified as Gassi Paola de Souza Maria, also mentioned in an official statement from the Sarandi City Hall as Dr. Gassi P. Mazia.
According to preliminary information, the woman had at least four stab wounds, and the suspicion is that she was killed by knife blows. Her partner is the main suspect of the crime, according to the investigation.
The victim's infant son was near the body when police entered the residence. Residents in the area near Itororó Avenue, in Bosque 2, called the Military Police after hearing the child crying for a prolonged period without anyone appearing to attend to him.
