Forest fires in Spain have already consumed more than 295,720 hectares since the beginning of the year, according to data from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). This figure represents 45% of all burned areas in the European Union during the same period. MITECO also reported that 43 large fires have been recorded in the country to date. The data was released this Friday.
