The Association Friends of the Diaspora and Madeiran Emigrants (AADEM) announced that it plans to distribute, in the coming weeks, 240 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Luso-Venezuelans affected by the double earthquake in August. The aid was raised in Portugal and will be sent to Venezuela to support the victims of the natural disaster.

AADEM is an association dedicated to supporting Madeiran emigrants and the Portuguese diaspora, having mobilised resources from Portuguese institutions and citizens to address the emergency caused by the earthquakes in Venezuela.

The double earthquake in August caused significant destruction in Venezuela, affecting various communities, including many of Portuguese origin. The distribution of the 240 tonnes of humanitarian aid aims to mitigate the effects of the disaster and support the recovery of the affected populations.

Italy: Pope Leo XIV Returns to Genazzano to Celebrate Mass at the Shrine of the Mother of Good Counsel

Pope Leo XIV traveled to the Italian municipality of Genazzano to preside over a Eucharist at the Shrine of the Mother of Good Counsel, on the eve of the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The liturgy marked the inauguration of a painting showing the Pope in prayer before the image of the Virgin, integrating him into the gallery of his predecessor pontiffs. This official visit follows a private visit made in May 2025, just two days after his election, when the Pope expressed his deep desire to be in this space of Marian devotion. Leo XIV's relationship with the shrine dates back to the 1980s, when he joined the Order of Saint Augustine in the province dedicated to the Mother of Good Counsel, maintaining frequent visits throughout his religious life.
