The house of São Paulo's Secretary of Municipal Education, Fernando Padula Novaes, was burglarized on Saturday night (5) in Jardim Paulista, West Zone of the capital. The property was invaded by a group of at least four people. The secretary was away from home at the time, hospitalized for examinations, and the movement was noticed by a neighbor.
After the invasion, the suspects fled the scene and were pursued. One of them was detained on Avenida Nove de Julho and charged. According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat, he remains at the disposal of the Justice system while investigations continue to locate and arrest the other suspects.
Before fleeing, the group abandoned the stolen items, which included dollars and euros, ancient coins, watches, jewelry and other objects. The items were recovered and returned, and analysis by the Institute of Criminalistics (IC) was requested to examine them.
The case was registered as residential burglary and criminal association at the 14th Police District (Pinheiros).
