One of the sides of a grandstand structure collapsed around midnight on Sunday (6) during the Country Fair of Campo Limpo Paulista, a rodeo event held in the municipality in the countryside of São Paulo near Jundiaí. The collapse left 24 people injured, of which 19 have already been discharged, four remain under observation at the Hospital of Campo Limpo Paulista and one is being evaluated at the Hospital de Caridade São Vicente de Paulo, in Jundiaí.
The Fire Department carried out the inspection of the structure and the affected area was cordoned off by Civil Defense. According to Civil Defense, people sought shelter in the grandstand due to the heavy rain falling at the moment, which caused overload on the structure.
The event organization, held by Grupo MDX, decided to postpone Sunday's (6) programming, including the show by the duo Rick & Renner, as a preventive measure given the rain forecasts. The event will resume on Monday (7).
The company stated that the exact circumstances of the incident are being evaluated and that the event structures are undergoing technical inspection.
