The Rio de Janeiro City Hall announced on Sunday (6) a R$ 210 million package of urbanization and infrastructure works in Complexo do Alemão, in the North Zone of the city. The project includes the implementation and expansion of water and sewage networks, road paving, drainage, slope stabilization, construction of 192 housing units, improvements in public lighting and creation of leisure areas.
The interventions will be concentrated in three specific locations: Morro do Itararé, Travessa Laurinda and Capão. In Travessa Laurinda, improvements in water supply and sewage collection are planned. Altogether, approximately 60,000 people live in Complexo do Alemão.
The project was presented by Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere and the municipal Housing Secretary, Claudio Dutra. The plan also includes land regularization and technical and social work actions, seeking integrated improvements for the community.
