The Rio City Government announced this Sunday (6) a R$ 210 million package for urbanization and infrastructure works in Complexo do Alemão, in the North Zone of the city. The project includes the implementation and expansion of water and sewage networks, road paving, drainage, slope stabilization, construction of 192 housing units, improvements in public lighting, and creation of leisure areas.
The interventions will be concentrated in three specific areas: Morro do Itararé, Travessa Laurinda, and Capão. In Travessa Laurinda, improvements in water supply are planned. Altogether, approximately 60,000 people live in Complexo do Alemão.
The project was presented by Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere and by the Municipal Secretary of Housing, Claudio Dutra. In addition to the physical works, the package includes land regularization and technical and social work actions for the community.
