Arganil celebrated its Municipal Holiday on September 7th with a solemn session that was attended by the Minister of Justice, Rita Alçada. The ceremony took place at the Municipal Auditorium and included the honoring of ten names and institutions that distinguished themselves through their contribution to the development and prestige of the municipality.
The ten honorees were distributed across different categories. In the area of Culture, the Rancho Folclórico da Pereira, the Arganil Nucleus of the League of Combatants, and the Filarmonic Band of Pomares were distinguished. The municipality also recognized the actions of figures such as Father Diamantino, Father Lopes, and Father Ferreira, as well as Carlos Pimenta and Manuel Formigal.
The solemn session included speeches from the authorities present, including the mayor of Arganil, Luís Paulo Costa, and ended with a concert by the Filarmonic Band of Pomares. The choice of September 7th is linked to the celebration of Municipal Holiday, a date that marks the local identity and the history of the Arganil community.
