After a banner with the message "Out with Moraes" was displayed at Douglas Ruas' (PL) campaign event, Eduardo Paes (PSD) criticized the use of institutional crises as an "electoral pamphlet." The statement was made during a caravan in Nova Iguaçu this Sunday, alongside Rogerio Lisboa (PP), who was almost Ruas' running mate.
Paes stated that he doesn't hide his alliance with President Lula, but clarified that he is not the latter's "employee." He explained that his next campaign advertisements will explore his opponent's "fortune."
Regarding the institutional crisis at the STF, which has been fueling Bolsonaro campaigns, Paes said that Minister Alexandre de Moraes needs to provide answers about the accusations made against him. The mayor recalled his own defense during Lava Jato and affirmed that no one in Brazil is above the law, but that turning an institutional crisis into an electoral tool is inappropriate.
