At the closing of the "Avante!" Festival, the PCP's general secretary, Raimundo, harshly criticized Government policy, considering that it is this that deserves censure and not the positions of Luís Neves, the president of Social Security. The communist leader warned about what he described as a "raid on Social Security," stating that it continues to be in the executive's sights.
Raimundo also tried to dissuade the PS from enabling the State Budget for 2025, accusing the socialists of giving Chega space to "free itself" and the Government "conditions to escalate the attack" against social institutions. From the PCP's perspective, the enabling of the Budget by the PS would represent support for what the communists consider to be a right-wing policy.
The article comes in the context of the "Avante!" Festival, the PCP's annual event that marks the closing of the party's festivities. Raimundo's intervention comes at a time of political tension, with the State Budget needing support to be approved.
