The first two days of Rock in Rio 2026 took place on Friday (4) and Saturday (5), showcasing the diversity of rock that defines this edition of the festival. On Friday, Di Ferrero revisited NX Zero hits and paid homage to Nirvana, while the British duo Nova Twins brought their explosive sound to the Mundo Stage. The night was closed by the band Foo Fighters.
On Saturday, the festival delved into heavy metal, with Sepultura's farewell as one of the most symbolic moments of the lineup. Avenged Sevenfold closed Saturday night as the main act. On the Sunset Stage, the Brazilian band Malvada opened the day with a mix of heavy metal and hard rock, in addition to a tribute to Rita Lee.
The newsroom of newspaper O GLOBO assigned scores to the shows from the first two days of the festival, publishing detailed critiques of the performances. During Avenged Sevenfold's performance, the audience faced rain. The festival also features real-time coverage of the third day and an interactive game for readers to create their ideal line-up.
