The Left Bloc questioned the waiting times for the first psychology appointment in the National Health Service, warning about the access difficulties that users face.
The Order of Portuguese Psychologists estimates that more than 2.3 million Portuguese people need psychological support, which represents significant demand on the available services.
According to the Order's data, one in five Portuguese people suffers from psychological health problems, which demonstrates the magnitude of the mental health problem in the country.
This issue arises in the context of debates about the NHS's response capacity and citizens' access to adequate mental health care within reasonable timeframes.
