The far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) won the elections in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, in eastern Germany, according to projections released by the public broadcasters ARD and ZDF.

According to preliminary data, the AfD obtained 44.5% of the votes, consolidating its position as the dominant force in that German state.

The result represents a significant milestone for the far-right party, which has been strengthening its electoral presence in the eastern region of the country.

The projections were made public by the German public television stations, confirming the clear victory of the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt.
