Handcraft made with soul! Artes Gémeas has been Alexandra Condeço's passion for 30 years

Rádio Campanário6 September 2026 at 15:47

Alexandra Condeço, from Évora, has dedicated herself to handicrafts for 30 years and presents her work for the first time at the Luz Fair, in Montemor-o-Novo, in 2026. Through the brand Artes Gémeas, Alexandra exhibits pieces that reflect her creativity, working with materials such as ceramics, resin, and fashion accessories, being responsible for the entire creation process, from sewing to assemblies.

The inspiration for the brand name came from her personal life: Alexandra is the mother of two twins, and she found in handicrafts a hobby that quickly became a passion. Everything started with painting, and after attending a course, a path opened up that has accompanied her for three decades, marked by continuous learning and persistence.

Although handicraft is not her main professional activity — Alexandra maintains a job at Epral — it was during the pandemic that her project gained greater visibility. The production of fabric masks, at a time of high demand, boosted the brand and attracted new customers. Since then, Artes Gémeas has continued to grow, maintaining the essence of creating with her own hands.

Alexandra recognizes that living from handicrafts requires many hours of dedication without guarantee of recognition, but she believes that the love for what she does makes all the difference. For those who listen to her, she leaves a simple piece of advice: everyone should have a hobby, because what starts as a pastime can transform into a true passion over 30 years.
