The heat marking the start of September in mainland Portugal may give way to a weather change in the second half of the month. According to Luso Meteo, sun and heat should predominate until around September 15, although some periods of light rain or drizzle may occur, especially in the North and along the coast.
The change may begin to take shape between September 17 and 20, a period when the anticyclone may lose influence and allow the approach of disturbances. This is, for now, a possible scenario, subject to changes in the next weather updates.
If an isolated upper-level depression forms, showers and thunderstorms may appear. Another possibility is the approach of a more organized Atlantic depression, but it is still not possible to determine the intensity of precipitation or the most affected regions.
Luso Meteo considers that late autumn and winter may present more favorable conditions for intense rainfall episodes and storms, although this is only a seasonal trend that does not allow for predicting specific storms or guaranteeing extreme phenomena.
