A "championship" inspired by football and the Premier League is taking place on the streets of South London. Local gangs are disputing a competition in which they score points according to the severity of crimes committed, using a table similar to that of the English football championship. A murder equals three points, while a non-fatal stabbing earns one point. The rankings are constantly updated with the help of social media.
The spiral of violence has already resulted in deaths, including that of a Brazilian. Criminal groups in the Brixton neighborhood, such as the 67 gang, and in the neighboring area, where Lower Tulse Hill leads, are known for their high degree of violence. Some of these groups grew up listening to rap and are inspired by the gangs that terrorized Los Angeles, in the United States, in the 1970s.
