Government extends deadline until end of year to complete TAP privatization

The Portuguese Government decided to extend until the end of the year the deadline to complete the privatization of TAP. The announcement was made this Friday by the Minister of the Presidency, Leitão Amaro.

The Executive will now begin final negotiations with the two candidates that submitted binding offers to purchase 44.9% of TAP. These two potential buyers are the Franco-Dutch company Air France-KLM and the German Lufthansa.

With this extension, the privatization process gains more time for negotiations with the two competitors to advance more thoroughly, allowing the Government to evaluate the best conditions for the sale of the state stake in the Portuguese airline.
