Benfica did not hold back its criticism of the refereeing in the futsal Super Cup final, in which the eagles lost to Sporting 3-2 after extra time. Cassiano Klein's team, who will be renewing [their contract], released a statement on the official website titled "Unacceptable refereeing takes another trophy from Benfica," pointing out several errors that, in the club's view, had a direct influence on the result.

Benfica considers that the most serious moment occurred in the second half, when a goal by Carlos Monteiro was disallowed. The eagles argue that the play was perfectly legal, since the ball was touched with the shoulder.

The club considers it even more serious that the decision was made after the referees resorted to video support: "The Laws of the Game are clear: a goal scored with the shoulder is valid," the statement reads.
