The fire that broke out at the end of yesterday in Serra d'Ossa is currently in the final phase, with consolidation of mop-up operations and active surveillance in the field to prevent any re-ignitions.
The firefighting operation involved 303 personnel and 112 resources, including four tracked vehicles. The burned area corresponds, for the most part, to forest vegetation and scrubland located in the municipality of Redondo.
Despite the size of the incident, the fire caused no injuries and did not affect any dwellings, and it was possible to safeguard people, dwellings, and the natural heritage of the region. The municipalities of Redondo and Estremoz provided logistical support to the entities involved.
The Municipality of Redondo expressed its gratitude to the personnel, volunteers, and teams that participated in the fire response, highlighting the professionalism of the Fire Brigades, Civil Protection forces, security authorities, and municipal teams, as well as the contribution of the population who provided water, food, and materials.
