Marvão couldn't reach the Final of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal, despite the pride demonstrated by the work developed over the last few months. The candidacy allowed surpassing the first two phases of the contest and projecting the image of Marvão and its Castle at national level.

The municipality acknowledges the collective effort of the people of Marvão and friends of Marvão who contributed to this campaign. The participation in the contest brought visibility to the region and to its historical heritage.

The Castle of Marvão was one of the candidates for this distinction, which aims to elect the seven new wonders of Portuguese heritage.
