In April of this year, Alameda São Boaventura, in Fonseca, was the scene of an accident that resulted in the death of young Nilton Doria de Oliveira. He was riding a motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with another two-wheeled vehicle. Security camera footage recorded the moment he was thrown against a pole on the side of the road. The family says the crash was caused by a reckless overtaking.
In the same month, another accident drew attention to one of the main roads in the Ocean Region. On the night of April 12, a car flipped over on Estrada Francisco da Cruz Nunes, in Itaipu, and ended up on the sidewalk of a gas station. A man and a woman suffered minor injuries and were attended by the Fire Department.
Both episodes took place on two of the roads that rank among the most dangerous in Niterói, according to an accident ranking in the city. The article addresses the issue of road safety in these regions.
