A walk through Rio's Downtown shows that the scenario of deserted streets and offices during the Covid-19 pandemic is beginning to become a thing of the past. The new developments include everything from a bakery on the corner of Ouvidor and Uruguaiana streets to the coming and going of workers busy at bars, restaurants, and residential projects. The movement seeks to restore the dynamism of the heart of the city with new residents, the return of workers, and the traditional nightlife that animates the neighborhood into the late hours.
Rua Sete de Setembro, which has always had pulsating commerce, is preparing for a new type of occupation. A retrofit has begun to transform the former Vertical Shopping Mall, which had 64 stores. The building, already under construction, will be adapted to accommodate 172 studios with areas of 28 to 40 square meters.
All studios have already been sold off-plan, starting from R$360 thousand. The works are expected to last 18 months. According to the text, the space is considered excellent due to its location, five minutes from Santos Dumont Airport, as well as its proximity to metro stations that allow quick access to the city's beaches.
