American rapper Nelly made history on Brazilian radio stations in 2003 with the song Dilemma, in partnership with Kelly Rowland. The song, included in the soundtrack of "Malhação," exploded among young Brazilians and still holds the fourth place among the most played songs on radio stations in the country, according to the Mais Tocadas website. The chorus "No matter what I do. All I think about about you" became iconic for an entire generation.
After this enormous success, Nelly continued with his music career and released six more albums, but never managed to repeat the same level of popularity in Brazil. The artist had never performed in the country until now.
This Sunday (5), Nelly will take the stage at Rock in Rio for his first performance in Brazil. The show marks his return to the country after more than two decades since the release of Dilemma.
In recent years, the rapper has collected several controversies. In 2015, he was convicted of drug possession after a police checkpoint, adding controversies to his trajectory since the peak of his career in the 2000s.
