Iran's Revolutionary Guard claims attack on US drone in the Strait of Hormuz

Expresso6 September 2026 at 08:34

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced it attacked a US naval drone that was attempting to enter waters it considers "protected" in the Strait of Hormuz. The incident occurred in the context of a new escalation between Tehran and Washington. The Revolutionary Guard is Iran's elite military branch, responsible for defending the regime and sensitive military operations. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway in the Persian Gulf, through which a large portion of the world's oil passes. This attack represents another episode of the persistent tensions between Iran and the United States, which have been intensifying recently.
