There are many cases where villages that were once inhabited and full of life have turned into ruins, where only one or two houses remain standing. One such case is that of Tere, the last inhabitant of a village in Asturias, whose dwellings have disappeared among the vegetation and rubble, but who nonetheless refuses to leave. Tere expresses feeling too much pain when she thinks about the day when she will no longer be there. This phenomenon of rural depopulation is common in many regions, where former communities have been gradually abandoned by their inhabitants over time.
