PSD says Chega's motion is out of place. Ventura accuses opposition to the Government of

The PSD's secretary-general, Hugo Soares, considered that Chega's motion of censure is completely misplaced from reality, accusing André Ventura of wanting to be constantly on television. This position was justified with Portugal's rating upgrade from A to A+ by the Fitch agency, something that had not happened in about 25 years. Hugo Soares recalled that wages are increasing, taxes are decreasing, employment is at historic highs, and unemployment at historic lows.

Chega's motion of censure against the PSD/CDS-PP Government will be discussed in parliament on Tuesday and already has guaranteed rejection, since it would need 116 votes in favor to be approved and bring down the executive. This is the first motion of censure against the XXV Constitutional Government and the third against PSD/CDS-PP executives led by Luís Montenegro. The document aims to hold the Prime Minister accountable for maintaining in office the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, due to the controversies involving his name while he was director of the Judicial Police.

André Ventura responded harshly, stating that the expected rejection of the motion results from a kind of courage schizophrenia in Portuguese politics. The Chega president defended that other parties did not have the courage to act and that the issue has to do with decency. Ventura also highlighted that in Portugal there is no instrument to dismiss ministers through parliament, unlike Spain which has sectoral motions of censure.

The Chega leader also questioned what is different between the case of Minister Luís Neves and the case of the real estate company Spinumviva linked to the Prime Minister's family, which also prompted motions of censure and led to the Government's fall in March 2025, when the confidence motion was rejected and the executive was subsequently re-elected.

Mr. Rodrigues already makes people sick.

This opinion article harshly criticizes Madeira's political leaders, Miguel Albuquerque and José Manuel Rodrigues, considering that the promises to increase the regional minimum wage to 1,050 euros are merely political rhetoric maneuvers to disguise a severe social crisis. The author argues that the current economic model is based on low wages to protect privileged economic groups, while the cost of living rises drastically due to real estate speculation and unregulated tourism, causing an exodus of young people and qualified professionals. The piece concludes that without a break with this privileged model, Madeira's future will continue to be compromised.

The wording of the procedure should be changed!

A citizen sent a formal complaint to the jury of the competition procedure at the Funchal Municipal Council for Senior Technician in Social Work, requesting clarification on the wording of the habilitation requirement. The author questions whether the expression "degree or higher academic qualification in the area of Social Work" allows the candidacy of master's or doctoral holders whose undergraduate degree is in another area, and criticizes the lack of express requirement for registration with the Order of Social Workers, in contrast to the procedure for psychologists which explicitly requires registration with the Order of Psychologists. The complaint also alerts to the situation of holders of degrees in Social Policy and Social Work, recognized by the Order's Regulation, who may be excluded by the wording adopted, and appeals to compliance with the principles of equality, impartiality and transparency in recruitment in the Public Administration.
