Thousands of people took to the streets of Berlin in a demonstration against the housing crisis and for the right to housing. The protest took place near the Rotes Rathaus (Red City Hall), where a stage was set up for the organizers' speeches. The demonstration demanded the expropriation of large landlords, in an appeal that echoed the phrase "expropriate the expropriators."
Among the participants, a man dressed as an astronaut stood out as he moved through the crowd carrying a sign with the message "your rents are moon prices," a reference to real estate speculation and the values practiced in the city's rental market.
Andre, a member of the association Deutsche Wohnen & Co Enteignen, took the stage and gave voice to the fears of many tenants. According to him, many are afraid when they go to the post office and find a letter from their landlord, fearing rent increases or evictions.
The demonstration featured the participation of people of various ages and from different parts of the city, showing that the housing crisis affects Berlin's population across the board.
