Germany intends to tax Chinese PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric) cars in the same way it did with electric vehicles. The SPD, a party in the German government, is pressing for this measure to be implemented.
The SPD party, the German equivalent of the Portuguese socialist party, is pressing Germany and Europe to target Chinese PHEV cars, following the same path that was adopted for electric vehicles.
This initiative comes as part of a trend of trade protectionism in the European automotive sector, with the German government leading the efforts to restrict competition from Chinese plug-in hybrid vehicle manufacturers.
