Tiago Macena, winemaker, consultant and wine producer in the Dão region, became the first Portuguese to obtain the title of "master of wine", an internationally prestigious distinction achieved by a very small number of professionals worldwide. This achievement represents a historic milestone for the Portuguese wine sector.
The news of achieving this level arrived at a particularly challenging time for the professional. Macena revealed he was caught "in the eye of the hurricane", precisely during the period when he was managing what was described as the earliest harvest ever in the region.
The title of "master of wine" is considered one of the highest recognitions in the wine industry worldwide. It is a qualification that few professionals manage to obtain, requiring deep and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects related to wine, from viticulture to winemaking and the market.
With this distinction, Tiago Macena positions himself as a reference for Portuguese wine, adding to his experience as a producer and consultant in Dão a recognition that elevates his international status in the wine world.
