With trial declared null, what happens now to Lindsay Clancy?

SAPO Notícias5 September 2026 at 18:47

Lindsay Clancy's trial, a nurse accused of the homicide of her three children, ended with the judge's declaration of nullity, after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict. The process took place over six weeks, followed by seven days of deliberations.

The judge considered that it was not possible to obtain a consensual decision from the jurors, which made it impossible to reach a final verdict on Lindsay Clancy's guilt or innocence.

After the judicial decision, Lindsay Clancy returns to the psychiatric hospital where she has been admitted during the period she was awaiting the outcome of the trial.

Now, it remains to be seen if the authorities will decide to hold a new trial or if they will take another decision regarding the case.
