An Egyptian criminal court sentenced to death television presenter and producer Sarah Jalifa and her brother Mohamed Jalifa. The sentence was handed down today by a criminal court in Egypt.

The two were found guilty of founding and leading a criminal group specialized in obtaining and manufacturing illicit substances. The group was dedicated to drug trafficking, according to the prosecution.

Sarah Jalifa is known as a television presenter and producer in Egypt. Mohamed Jalifa is her brother, co-defendant in the same criminal case.

The case generated great media attention in the country, being one of the first death sentences of a well-known public figure in the Egyptian audiovisual sector for drug-related crimes.
