Between June 1 and August 31, detection systems recorded 893,000 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes across Europe. This number represents a summer marked by severe thunderstorm episodes across the continent.
In addition to lightning strikes, the period was characterized by hail, destructive gusts and, in some locations, conditions capable of producing tornadoes. The intensity of the weather phenomena was notable in various European regions.
Portugal appears as a surprise on the lightning map, standing out unexpectedly among the European countries affected by this intense electrical activity during the summer months.
