A man identified as Leandro Cavalcante was shot and died in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro, on Friday night (4). According to preliminary information gathered by the Capital Homicide Division (DHC), he would be a criminal who attempted to rob a military police officer.
According to the PM, the police officer who suffered the attempted robbery was off-duty when approached near Ailton Henrique da Costa Avenue. The officer reacted to the robbery and fired at Leandro Cavalcante, who did not resist the injuries. The police officer was not injured in the incident.
Agents from the 31st BPM (Recreio dos Bandeirantes) were called to the scene during the night and policing was reinforced in the area after the shooting. The DHC continues to investigate the case and conducts investigations at the scene of the occurrence to clarify the details of what happened.
