RTP Notícias5 September 2026 at 18:00

Pedestrian accidents in urban areas of Porto caused 13 deaths and 24 serious injuries between 2019 and 2023, according to the city's Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. This document identifies the main risk areas for pedestrians in Portugal's second-largest city.

The incidents were mainly concentrated in four areas: the city center, Boavista, the waterfront, and major streets and avenues. These zones are among the busiest in the city, both for residents and tourists.

The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan was the source used to quantify these accidents, warning of the need for road safety measures in the northern capital of Portugal.
