Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira crashed and retired from the first race of the Superbike World Championship at Magny-Cours, in France. The rider was running in the lower positions when he lost control of his BMW, which resulted in his retirement.

The race was won by Nicolò Bulega, who thus achieved another important victory this season. With this result, the Italian rider moved closer to fulfilling his dream of becoming world champion of the discipline.

Miguel Oliveira's retirement happened in an early phase of the race, when the BMW rider was unable to keep control of the bike, which prevented him from continuing in competition and from fighting for a positive result in this French round.
