Flamengo departed this afternoon for a double away mission: facing Remo tomorrow in the Brasileirão and Independiente del Valle next Thursday in the Libertadores. The match against the Ecuadorians will be played in the altitude of Quito, Ecuador.
Coach Leonardo Jardim has two confirmed absentees: Alex Sandro and Evertton Araújo. However, the Portuguese coach will have four new options on the called-up list: the returns of Vitão and De la Cruz, both recovered from muscle problems, and the reinforcements Joaquín Freitas and Anthony Valencia.
With more options in the squad, Jardim can rotate the starting XI already thinking ahead to the midweek Libertadores commitment. The returns of Vitão and De la Cruz were made possible after both trained with the group throughout the last week.
The match against Remo at Mangueirão is considered fundamental, as Flamengo has caught up with league leader Palmeiras after defeating Mirassol last Wednesday, in a postponed Brasileirão match.
